Project Bluebonnet is an Escondido neighborhood beautification effort happening every late Fall starting in September.
The idea of Project Bluebonnet is the result of Alexander Rubio observing the neighborhood over an 18 month period. The qualifying factors for a project the neighborhood could rally behind includes determining a low-cost and high impact project for residents and visitors to relate and identify immediately.
Every September donations are tallied and used to purchase Bluebonnet seeds. The bluebonnet seeds are dispersed throughout the neighborhood’s empty lots and right of ways creating a nice springtime display of Texas Bluebonnets throughout the neighborhood. Texas Bluebonnet seeds are purchased and delivered at a cost $40 per pound. The Bluebonnet seeds are dispersed by volunteers both from the neighborhood and friendly visitors. A picture of the blooms are submitted to the local media outlets as a community public service announcement where a special recognition is presented to donors and volunteers.
Project Bluebonnet 2011 is the third annual event for the Escondido Neighborhood and would like you to donate any amount you feel comfortable donating. If you have seeds you can donate the seed directly by contacting Alexander Rubio at 206.202.2368.

Improving the quality of life in the Escondido Neighborhood. Escondido Neighborhood Association is organized and run by unpaid volunteers, underwritten by sponsors, and profit free. Escondido is nicely located in the City of Bryan, Texas: between two main areas of focus and bridges the gap between Downtown Bryan and Blinn College. Escondido residents are working together to promote neighborhood communication, food and art.
